Sustainability

Our goal is to use practical ways to create sustainable consumption habits. Here are a few ways we are adopting responsible habits:

• Using sustainable toiletries and cleaning products (no single use/travel size toiletries)

• Using biodegradable coffee pods (which are locally sourced and a portion of each purchase goes back to help fund the West Virginia State Parks)

• We cut down on paper and other waste with digital perks! While everyone enjoys a welcome gift, we find that most items are half used or left behind. Instead, we have cultivated music playlists to enjoy while relaxing in the hot tub, created an online guest guidebook with helpful tips to plan any trip, and offer discounts to local businesses. 

• We support local. From the coffee pods we offer to the recommendations to restaurants, we support as many local businesses as possible. Independent businesses are likely to have slightly higher prices than big brands. This is often precisely because they operate in a more sustainable way. Larger corporations often achieve the low prices to which we’re accustomed through exploitative labor practices and a wasteful use of resources.

• Upcycling. From the shipping container itself to the reclaimed wood we use, we try taking something no longer in use and giving it a second life.

Outside
We would love for you to enjoy the outdoors as much as indoors. We have provided outdoor seating, hot tub, and a fire pit with a complimentary starter set of firewood. We kindly ask if you would like to purchase more wood, please scan the QR code provided at the cabin or click on the button below. As we operate on the honor system, purchasing more wood (10 pieces for $10) is appreciated. Please understand our supply is not endless as we do not intend to timber our entire forest. Thank you.

Please note: Woodland creatures do come to visit and in the warmer months insect repellent is a must in enjoying the outdoor spaces. 

Inside
The main bedroom offers a full-size bed and views of nature and its beauty. The Wanderer offers a second bedroom with a twin bunk bed.

The kitchen offers must-have amenities including:

• a refrigerator with freezer

• cooktop
